This is a problem with Apple’s signature check. This is to prevent unofficial software from being run on the iPod Touch.
This is exactly why Jailbreaking was invented. The official Apple software always checks for a specific certificate (signature) located within the application. Without this certificate, the application will not run on the iPod Touch.
The ONLY solution to this issue is to jailbreak your iPod. Once you do, install App Sync 3.1 onto your iPod via Cydia. This will allow installation of your .ipa file.
NOTE: All .ipa files that are not from iTunes itself is “cracked” and does not contain the certificate, therefore not allowing the app to be installed.
NOTE: While jailbreaking only voids your warranty, installing cracked apps is ILLEGAL.
